Communiqué No. 3 (2026)

Helsinki Geoeconomics Week 2026 marked a transition from institutional design to sustained common work. The Communiqué records what Helsinki set in motion and the institutional programme carrying that work forward: the Task Force phase of the New Helsinki Process; the first public formation cycle of Helsinki Geoeconomics School and its inaugural Winter Academy; preparations for the next Associate Fellows cohort; and the Society’s forthcoming editorial, audio and institutional programme.

It also opens two public calls:

  1. advisory suggestions for the namesake of the 2027–2028 Associate Fellows cohort; and
  2. nominations for the 2026 David A. Baldwin Prize in Geoeconomics. Both calls close on 30 November 2026 at 23:59 Helsinki time.

The Communiqué also introduces the Society’s evolving institutional framework, including its Board of Governors, editorial machinery, executive team, and the Susan Strange Cohort.

Together, these structures form the foundation for a broader intellectual project examining how geoeconomics is reshaping the organisation of the global economy and the practice of statecraft.
